Because nobody likes a case of the Mondays.

So far, the whole not going to school thing has been nice. I come home and some days I clean house, other days I do laundry, sometimes it’s a small project. This past week was a combination of all three and I started running again. So yay!

Another project I have been tackling lately is ceiling fans.

If you scroll through images on the internet, youwill come across countless images of bedrooms with ceilings adorned with chandeliers and pendants. Beautiful as they may be, in Southeast Texas, it is not practical.

Houston has two seasons, super hot and hot. Occasionally there is some winter weather or a beautiful spring day, but for the most part, it’s hot. Hot and humid. Ceiling fans are just a part of life. I grew up with one running 24/7. If we’re staying in a hotel, we bring a box fan with us so we are not without the ever so important white noise projected by a fan. A room without a ceiling fan is an empty, quiet, stale shell. Plus, who wants to spend a fortune on cooling their house?

So as you might imagine, having a new build means we have been without ceiling fans in some of the rooms since we moved in. Not our master bedroom, that would never happen, but the two secondary rooms and the study. So, I have been on a mission to find ceiling fans for those three rooms which has been a little bit of a challenge.

The rooms are small but they have 10′ ceilings. The largest size fan the rooms can support is 44″. This might sound like a lot, and it is, but the problem is the design of the fans in that size, that are within our price range. Most fans that are the look and price I want are over 44″. Most were around 50″ which is too large for a 8’x10′ room. The fans in my price range and close to the size I need look like your Grandma’s ceiling fan. And to make things even more complicated, I need a ceiling fan with a light fixture.

Here are 10 ceiling fans that are not your Grandma’s. They are all modern, around 44″ and under $200. I’m actually leaning towards the Hunter Dempsey. It’s LED and has a remote. What more could you ask for?
